N. Y. S. A. T. A. Hall of Fame

Mission Statement:

To review all Hall of Fame nominations and make recommendations to the NYSATA Board of Directors. We shall act in the most objective and impartial manner while reviewing shooting accomplishments as well as significant contributions to the sport of trapshooting. In this course, we shall consider ethical and moral behavior of nominees so as to present a positive image to our members as well as the general public.

The Committee:

The Hall of Fame Committee should consist of a minimum of three (3) primary members, with each NY State Zone being represented. One (1) alternate from each zone may also be selected, but is not required. Alternates may be involved in all processes of nominee review EXCEPT the final vote for recommendation to the Board of Directors. This shall be the responsibility/privilege of the 3 primary members of the committee.

Hall of Fame Eligibility:

All past or present members, living or deceased, of the NYSATA are eligible for nomination based on shooting accomplishments or significant contribution to the sport.

The guidelines for shooting accomplishments set forth by this committee should be considered as a minimum for possible selection to the Hall of Fame.

Any person being nominated for contributions to the sport should have verifiable and significant contributions.

Nomination Notice:

The nomination for membership shall be made, in writing, to the Hall of Fame Committee no later than the last day of the current year’s state shoot for acceptance of the nominee. A full history resume of the candidate will be provided to each primary member of the committee. The resumes must include the member’s ATA number, length of ATA & NYSATA membership and a complete outline of shooting activities to include major ATA trophies, awards and recognition. For nominations based on contributions to the sport, the resumes should include the member'’ ATA number, length of ATA & NYSATA membership and a verifiable listing of all significant contributions to the sport.

Selection to the Hall of Fame:

All persons to be recommended to the Board of Directors for selection to the Hall of Fame shall have a unanimous vote in favor of such from the three (3) primary members of the Hall of Fame Committee.

At the Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote in favor of a nominee by the Board Members present shall allow the person to earn his/her place in the Hall of Fame.

Annual number of selections:

No minimum number of new members shall be selected each year. There may, in fact, be years with no selections made. A maximum number of new members selected in one (1) year shall be three (3).

Purging Members:

Any member of the Hall of Fame may be purged from the Hall of Fame by a unanimous vote from the NYSATA Board of Directors upon the unanimous vote of the Hall of Fame Committee.

No member of the Hall of Fame may be purged unless for reason(s) of just cause. Any act of a nature that may place the Hall of Fame in a position of disrespect must be considered as just cause. If the ATA member is cast from the membership of the NYSATA or the ATA by vote and actions of their governing bodies, then such an act by either shall constitute just cause.

All charges alleged against a Hall of Fame member will be submitted in writing to the NYSATA Secretary. The Secretary shall make record of these charges and forward them to the Hall of Fame Committee for review.

The Hall of Fame Committee shall investigate and review all alleged charges and make recommendations to the Board of Directors based on their findings. A unanimous vote from the three (3) primary Hall of Fame Committee members shall be needed for a recommendation of purge to the Board of Directors.

A member of the Hall of Fame, who is being considered for purge, must be given no less than thirty (30) days’ notice for any meeting that may be held to consider expulsion action against the member. The notice must include the time and place of the meeting and provide amply opportunity for the member to appear and be heard. A list of charges shall be provided to the member at the time of notice.
